Center for Social Work Policy and Practice

The Chapter's Center focuses on the contributions of social workers as well as the challenges that social workers face in various fields of practice.

More about the Center...

Improving Working Conditions

NASW-NYC is taking on the challenge of improving working conditions for social workers.

The State of Black NY

The NYC Chapter Board of Directors examined and discussed a recent report, “The State of Black New York,” developed by the New York Urban League and the Black Equity Alliance. The report addresses a range of disparities affecting black New Yorkers and NASW-NYC has agreed to support the recommendations and help disseminate information of the report to the social work community.

Celebrating Emerging Social Work Leaders

On November 29, 2007 NASW-NYC celebrated eight outstanding individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership qualities and a unique commitment to the improvement of social and human conditions.

Information and Registration

Institutional Racism & The Social Work Profession: A Call To Action

Inspired in large part by the “Undoing Racism” Workshops in NYC, led by the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, this Call to Action identifies what individual social workers, schools of social work, and service agencies all need to do to address the effects of racism.  Specific examples of how racism plays out in social work are included.
